Aluminium foil: the ideal partner for composite insulation

Aluminium foil is indispensable in the insulation of roofs and walls. Today, insulation panels are made of solid polyurethane foam (PUR/PIR). If these panels are additionally laminated with a top layer of aluminium foil, they are great for insulation.

Due to foil lamination, the board is thinner and lighter, but the insulation is more efficient. PUR/PIR panels with aluminium foil are fully recyclable.

The film acts as a composite partner for the heat shield, not only as a heat reflector but also as a vapor barrier, preventing mold formation in the intermediate layer. Aluminium foil with bitumen is often used as a vapor barrier, whereby the bitumen also protects the foil from damage.

Porous PUR/PIR panels laminated with aluminum foil do not corrode when exposed to oxygen. The durability of this panel is extended by up to 50 years due to the aluminum foil. The film also reduces the risk of fire.

In addition to PUR/PIR panels and bitumen, aluminium foil for thermal insulation is also combined with another materials-for example, as a single- or double-sided top layer for air cushion foils. Again, it lives up to its efficient heat-reflecting properties.

Slim and easy-to-install insulation

Aluminum-based roof insulation is lightweight and easy to handle, allowing for quick installation-an advantage, especially in the insulation of large buildings such as warehouses.

In many cases, not only pure aluminum foils but also aluminum composite foils are used. In this case, the plastic foil is laminated on one or both sides of the aluminum foil. In most cases, polyester film (PET film) is usually used, but other plastic films made of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE) can also be used.

The plastic film provides higher tensile strength. This also makes it easier to bond the foil to the insulation. Glass wool can also be used to further increase tensile strength.

Aluminum foil is safe as an insulating material because it does not release any harmful fibers.

In the case of wall insulation, the usable surface area of the building is increased because the insulating layer made of aluminium foil in the insulating lining avoids the need for internal masonry.

Even in the hot season, the aluminum foil in the roof insulation acts as a support. Low-cost, flexible material also reflects 96% of external thermal radiation

So the active principle is the same - except in summer, the effect is outward, the baking heat is blocked, and the interior of the house is maintained at a cool and pleasant temperature.

Two types of aluminum foils can be distinguished to isolate solar radiation. The first is perforated. Small holes in the aluminum surface allow air to circulate. This is important because condensation is formed by large temperature differences inside and outside the insulation. Therefore, the small air holes in the aluminum foil prevent mold formation.

In the case of basement walls, for example, the situation is different. A moisture barrier or moisture barrier is required. When installing insulation on basement walls, the non-porous aluminum foil should be used as the base of the insulation.

Which to choose Aluminum foil coated PE or Metalized pet film coated PE ?

It depends on what product to be made in final procedure. Aluminum foil coated pe is with at least 97% reflectivity, it can be bonded to EPE foam but also most of time for laminated with bubble. Metalized pet film coated PE with lower reflectivity ,but it is with strong surface.

I am a insulated liner/bag manufacturer,what product do you suggest?

There maybe bubble lamination machines and heating pressure lamination machines in your factory, we suggest Aluminum foil 7mic+PE20mic, and Metalized PET film12mic+PE15mic.

What is the MOQ and how is packaging?

MOQ is 1000kgs for each product, packaging depends on roll size, common width is 1200mm and 1500mm, length are 4000m to 5000m per roll. Rolls can be vertically packed on pallet also accept to do horizontal suspending packaging.

Is this product by wet lamination or by dry lamination?

Both wet lamination line(extrusion coating) and dry lamination line(glue coating) are equiped in our Pengyuan group.
